In Berlin gibt es fast eine halbe Million leerstehender Plattenbau-Wohnungen, gleichzeitig wohnen ca. eine Million Berliner in diesen Gebäuden. Die Plattenbauten Berlins, funktionaler Wohnraum oder mitterlerweile zu Ruinen verfallen, wurden für mehrere Bezirke Berlins zur typischen Architektur. Tom O’Doherty hat die besondere Atmosphäre jener Bauten bei Nacht eingefangen.
While almost half a million apartments in Berlin’s tower blocks are technically vacant, about one million Berliners live in these buildings. The tower blocks – whether functional living space or having gone to ruins over the years – have become a typical architectural style in many of Berlin’s boroughs.
